Some Democrats have let it slip that impeaching Trump – again – is what they’re after
In a world chock full of poorly kept secrets – or flat-out fibs, misrepresentations and lies – this one could just be the worst tidbit of truth no longer under wraps.
Democrats will impeach President Donald J. Trump if they take control of the House of Representatives next year. It’s as predictable as the tides, or as certain as the return of Jesus on the day.
Everyone knows the surprise, yet Democrats won’t come right out and say it because they’re terrified of potentially alienating some of their voters who’d prefer they stick to their stated agenda and not preoccupy themselves with pursuing vendettas and slogging to remove Trump before his term finishes.
But Democrats don’t care about wasting time. And revenge is all they’re truly after these days. The question is whether there are enough Democrat-type voters who share their ants-in-the-pants quest to achieve what they couldn’t otherwise accomplish through regular elections.
Why hide it? Let it fly, Democrats! In a revealing article titled, “Ro Khanna Vows Democrats ‘Will Impeach’ Trump If They Win the House”, Harold Hutchison reported at The Daily Caller News Foundation (published in the Star News Network) last week:
“Multiple congressional Democrats have tried to introduce impeachment resolutions against Trump since he began his second term on January 20, 2025, citing various reasons such as his approach to illegal immigration and the June 2025 attack on Iranian nuclear sites. [Ro] Khanna told ‘The Briefing’ guest host Ali Velshi that Trump is ‘threatening war crimes.’
“’Absolutely, he should be impeached now,’ Khanna told Velshi. ‘I mean, he’s taken us into a disastrous war, threatening war crimes in Iran in terms of the knocking out [power] plants and knocking out electricity, and the Democrats will impeach him once we take back the House and should impeach him for all the things he’s done and depending on the Senate, he may face conviction.’”
Before we get to what Khanna said, it should be noted that we’re not talking about the Democrats’ current push to bring down Trump using the 25th Amendment. We’ll look at that if the need arises.
For now, Khanna’s unhinged prophecy almost makes you wish there was a vaccine for Trump Derangement Syndrome, doesn’t it? But it’s much more fun watching these kook-fringe Dems disembowel themselves on national TV, though hardly anyone watches MS Now.
For his part, Khanna seems like a semi-likeable guy. He’s just been afflicted with a cognitive disorder that plagues most Democrats not named Sen. John Fetterman these days.
But it begs the question nonetheless: Why are Democrats obsessed with impeaching Donald J. Trump?
The first and most obvious reason is because they hate him. That’s right. Democrats tend to revile anything they admire but can’t become, and Trump has the “it” factor they so roundly crave but can never capture. It almost seems as though Trump has perfected the never-look-back strategies Democrats toiled so hard to embody but couldn’t quite get themselves to unify over.
Stated another way, Trump governs like a brazen Democrat but formulates policies more in line with the Republican Party. How so? Trump uses power without apology. If there’s something he thinks needs to be done, President Trump doesn’t hesitate and/or call a meeting of his trusted counselors and take a week or so to deliberate to ensure that everyone’s onboard with it and hope against hope the media will provide him sufficient time to corral public opinion.
No, Trump just acts. Perhaps it’s impulse. Or thoroughly trusting his own instincts. Whatever the reason, Trump decides on a course and then steers the ship towards it regardless of the iceberg warnings or possibility of mines having been laid at the harbor entrance/exit.
Democrats hope against hope that the Trump ship will strike the iceberg and/or mines, but thus far, the president has proven immune to petty opposition attempts to stop him via Constitutional measures. Two prior impeachments haven’t taught them the lesson, either.
I’m a little surprised Trump hasn’t adopted the old Elton John defiant 1983 tune “I’m still standing” as his bumper music mantra at his rallies. It’d be more than apropos.
The second reason Democrats obsess over impeaching President Trump is because they’re bored.
Yes, it may look like Democrats have adjusted to their new roles as chief whiners and complainers and are more than content to accept invitations to appear on “The View” to chew the fat with a table full of invalid leftist crows who can’t do anything other than bash on their political opposition – but they haven’t adapted… at all.
No, Democrats hate the position they’re in, because they’re basically powerless to work on policies they intrinsically believe they’re destined to bring to fruition. Most Democrats have assumed that whatever power they answer to has tasked them with protecting illegal aliens, so they can’t rest until they demonize and attack those who see it as their mission to enforce immigration law.
Yeah, the Republicans. GOPers are so racist and bigoted, aren’t they?
Democrats have never come across a blighted bloc of human beings who they didn’t champion and work to normalize. Illegal alien criminals? Check! Useless thugs who are about to perish due to overdoses of fentanyl? Check! LGBTQ cross-dressers and other assorted mentally unbalanced freaks? Check! The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (remember them?)? Check! Drag Queen Story Hour? Double Check!
Along the way, Democrats built up a tremendous reservoir of guilt that must be alleviated. Seeing a man like Donald Trump in the White House adds to their sense of dread, because Trump isn’t at all like George W. Bush or John McCain or Mitt Romney. Trump can’t be bullied or coddled into accepting a “woke” alternative point-of-view apart from his own.
Imagine how a Democrat feels when he or she arrives at her desk every day with the knowledge that they’re severely limited to “help” their leftist constituents. The regret must be overwhelming.
The third reason Democrats are still determined to impeach President Trump is the forlorn hope that maybe, just maybe, whomever comes after the 47th president won’t be as bad… for them.
I can’t say for sure, but Democrats probably postulate they can control or manipulate most Republicans, so they’d face a much better chance of triumph with Trump’s successor than they would with he himself. Does this make sense?
Perhaps Democrats surmise that JD Vance is a Republican outsider who was known to buck Trump prior to being chosen as his running mate a couple years ago. Mike Pence turned out to be a lily-livered wuss after the 2020 election, right? How about then Attorney General William Barr? Both became turncoats when the heat reached maximum flow.
It could be Democrats would plot an all-out blitz to try and sway Vance to abandon Trump’s agenda if the head man himself was cashiered before the world in an impeachment spectacle.
The fourth and final (there are more, but why pile on?) reason Democrats will go after Trump is… they bet they’d win. Strange as it sounds, Democrats actually think they’re right about Trump and the Iran War will convince a sufficient number of wishy-washy Republicans to join them in their disdain and finally vote to be rid of him for the rest of history.
You know Democrats are getting desperate whenever they pull out the “War Crimes” argument as a rationale for removing a Republican like Khanna did. I’m not certain, but didn’t they talk about “War Crimes” after the one-day long Venezuela extraction, too? Or was it just blowing up supposedly “innocent” Venezuelan sea travelers who just happened to be riding speeding vessels laden with controlled substances that violated Democrats’ delicate sensibilities?
It also would be par for the proverbial course for Democrats to accuse the Trump administration of “War Crimes” for ICE operations within our own borders. You know, those illegal aliens have rights, don’t they?
The supposed “high crimes and misdemeanors” counts against Trump really don’t matter. Ro Khanna spilled the beans and provided a tell everyone probably knew about anyway. Impeachment of Trump – if Democrats take the House again – isn’t necessarily a foregone conclusion, but what Democrat leader would be able to resist the haters for a couple years?
Besides, a 2028 Trump impeachment would give the Dem presidential candidates something to talk about that would keep the focus on the outgoing president and away from their own hopefuls. It’d be Kamala Harris’s dream! Why talk about plans to reduce the federal debt when you could be blasting the lame duck about impeachment!
Who needs secrets, anyway?
