U.S. Representative Andy Ogles announced plans to file a sweeping immigration bill targeting chain migration, the H-1B visa program, and Diversity Lottery visas, while also strengthening character requirements and the amount of vetting required. Ogles signaled that his legislation would repeal the Hart-Cellar Act of 1965, which critics say radically changed the country’s immigration system to favor third-world migrants over European countries that traditionally drove immigration to the United States.
