Dems won’t say whether impeachment is in the works if they win in ‘26, but you bet it is
See if this sounds familiar:
“Trump’s gonna get impeached if Democrats win back control of the House of Representatives this year,” an earnest sounding Trump supporter stated without providing context or background for his matter-of-fact observation.
“So what?” replied his unperturbed friend, also a Trump supporter, not quite believing the Democrats would be dumb enough to allow impeachment to happen again. Or, in the alternative, that the political sideshow from such a gesture would create only good things in terms of stopping the Democrats from doing more damage should they manage to convince a sufficient number of gullible people in enough House districts to launch them on yet another political suicide mission.
So be it. In today’s ultra-divided political reality, it would be unnatural for the party out-of-power not to contemplate trying to remove the sitting president via constitutional means. Both parties engage in the dance but only the Democrats have carried out their threats to their logical extreme. Not once, but twice.
President Donald Trump has served as the Democrats’ target, a role the commander-in-chief has willingly embraced and adapted to. Trump hasn’t stated it plainly, but he’s dared the Democrats to come at him. If the communists/socialists win back the House majority in November, here’s thinking impeachment will very much be on their minds. Again.
Democrats won’t deny it, either. In an article titled, “Jeffries Refuses to Rule Out Trump Impeachment if Democrats Win House”, the AG News Staff reported at American Greatness recently:
“House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said … that Democrats have not ruled out another impeachment of President Donald Trump if they capture control of the House in November’s midterm elections.
“During an appearance on ABC’s ‘This Week,’ host George Stephanopoulos asked the New York Democrat whether his party would pursue impeachment immediately after taking control of the chamber. ‘No, we haven’t ruled anything in and we haven’t ruled anything out in terms of impeachment,’ Jeffries said.
“Jeffries said Democrats would instead begin by investigating allegations of wrongdoing and allow the evidence to determine what action Congress should take. ‘We’ve got to follow the facts, apply the law, be guided by the Constitution, and then let the chips fall where they may, in the best interests of the American people,’ [emphasis added] he said.”
The best interests of the American people? Is Jeffries kidding?
Would the “best interests of the people” be served by carving out weeks’ worth of congressional time just so Democrats can realize some pathetic measure of revenge on Donald Trump by making him the only president (federal officeholder?) ever to navigate the impeachment gauntlet three times?
This potential disgrace is in addition to the lawfare witch hunts the liberal party and its henchmen have commenced and pursued against Trump in the past decade and change. Democrats have generously fed an establishment media beast hungry for political sensationalism, concocting phony investigations and waxing on non-existent “evidence” that was supposedly authentic.
Yet Trump has survived every iota of it, and, has arguably emerged stronger from having regularly defended himself vis-à-vis his haters.
And Hakeem Jeffries hasn’t decided on whether another impeachment sideshow would be in the interests of the American people? Spare me.
Having already traveled the impeachment road twice during Donald Trump’s time at the apex of American politics – once during his first term and another after he’d already left office – Americans with common sense appreciate how Democrats are a vindictive lot who can’t help themselves.
Spurred on by an increasingly demanding and unreasonable activist leftist base, most Democrat politicians have resorted to the notion of removing Trump by any means necessary, including the far-fetched scheme of succeeding on impeachment. As a result, no Democrat, save perhaps for Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, would dare go public with a flat-out denial of his or her (or “they’s”) anti-Trump intentions.
The fact is, in a nationwide series of elections where the back-and-forth ideological battle will be district to district, if not precinct to precinct, Democrat candidates can’t afford to dismiss impeachment because so many of their constituents demand that it happen. Democrat voters don’t give a lick about the contrary arguments and persuasions, they just want to see Trump’s head on a proverbial spike no matter how remote the likelihood of success may be.
Logistically speaking, there just aren’t a sufficient number of Democrat (or RINO) senators to convict Trump, even if there might end up being enough House members to allow for the farce trial to initiate and carry-through to conclusion. As the first two impeachments (and then the stupider-than-heck January 6th committee) demonstrated, Democrats love staging big shows for no real political benefit.
One of the first impeachment effort’s leading Democrats, Senator Adam “Shifty” Schiff (from West Hollywood, California), is now in the senate. Chock up one automatic yes vote before the printing office ink even hits the paper!
Democrats will dangle the possibility of another impeachment sham trial to provide added incentive to their marginal voters, the kind of people who aren’t well-informed on the issues, but oppose Trump because they don’t like his personality, or he isn’t “presidential”, or they run in liberal social circles and won’t be caught dead not-opposing Trump.
Then there are those who’d enjoy being fed hours of boring CSPAN coverage, or their favorite leftist pundit needs something to do or say that isn’t a commentary on how inert the new Democrat House majority is. Face it, an impeachment circus will at least make it look like the Democrats are trying to do something to stop Trump, since they’ll otherwise be hamstrung in a lot of important ways.
Meanwhile, Senate Democrats would sit through the trial and play on their electronic devices or daydream while they contemplate what inflammatory thing they’ll say to the media to justify their House manager colleagues engaging in another fruitless exercise destined to fail before the charge is even made.
So, in essence, Democrats will hem-and-haw about the necessity of impeaching Trump but will delay as long as they possibly can, all meant to pacify their core supporters and try to provide a reason for Americans to vote for them. Any “agenda” Democrats come up with won’t have a ghost of a chance of getting past the filibuster in the senate and President Trump’s signature.
That’s an ominous barrier to overcome. No wonder Hakeem Jeffries won’t rule impeachment in – or out.
Republicans aren’t bound by such stupidities. The “Party of Common Sense” may not always be perfect, but at least they aren’t irrelevant to the point of absurdity like the Democrats are.
Trump’s presidency has been substance-filled, at the very least, in just about every way. Tax breaks, ending DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion), energy and environmental policy, health measures, immigration and yes, foreign policy – there’s always something on the burner in Donald Trump’s world. You don’t have to like it or agree with it, but it’s there.
What do Democrats stand for? Obstruction and impeachment. That’s not much to paint on a campaign sign, though they’ll throw-in “affordability” just for good measure.
Not that diehard Democrat backers require much inspiration to get them activated, particularly when Donald Trump is still on scene in the American political universe. Trump is the man/politician Democrats love to hate, like an opposing rival’s star player who always seems to be in position to score the winning touchdown as the clock ticks down and both teams are exhausted.
Republicans appear to know what’s coming and would be ready for impeachment, if and when it comes to that. The networks likely wouldn’t bother cutting away to cover the charade, the monotonous boredom of the parliamentary procedure already so spoiled and uninteresting that no one would devote more time watching stuffy elected senators sitting around doing… nothing.
Is this what Hakeem Jeffries says would be in the best interests of the American people?
Only one side anxiously anticipates another presidential impeachment trial. The lone bit of good that’s come from the past couple tries is they provided examples of pointless hours to replay over again for high school civics classes.
Democrats are eager to jump back into power. They realize it’s not going to happen as long as Donald Trump is president. Desperate dilemmas lead to desperate solutions.
