This saying the diploma divide isn’t a factor in elections. It is. But the frustration of marginalized Americans with self-styled elites is a real thing. We should take care not to conflate education with good judgment. Real world data dispels the myth that a college “education” somehow renders us “elite.” All of which brings us back to Michael Tomasky’s original question: ‘Why don’t leftie candidates do better among working-class voters?’ These people are often corrupt and their putative policies are frequently downright dumb.
